106 Squadron “LYNX” complete 60 years of glorious existence this year.
The Squadron’s nucleus was formed as an SR Unit in 1957 and finally upgraded to a “Squadron” in December 1959. The Squadron operated the English Electric Canberra in an SR role and the Douglas Dakota in a Survey Role. Later it operated the Avro HS-748 as well. The Squadron was recently resurrected on the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft in the north-east. It is one of the highest decorated squadrons in the IAF with three Maha Vir Chakras on its roll of honour.
