The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group and the Indian Navy's Western Fleet steam through the Indian Ocean in a passing exercise (PASSEX) formation on 22 October 2008. The PASSEX formation - which involved 12 warships - symbolized the completion of Malabar '08, which was designed to increase cooperation between the Indian and U.S. Navy while enhancing the cooperative security relationship between India and the U.S. The guided missile destroyer INS Rana D52, is seen here in the foreground.
