Squadron Leader Srinivasa Rangaswamy was commissioned in the Administrative Branch of the Indian Air Force in December, 1958. Since August 1971, he has been Commanding the Central Re-production Unit, During the period 16th October 1971 to 3rd December, 1971 and throughout the period of Indo-Pak operations, the unit was required to produce, on a mass scale, contact prints, enlargements and mosaics. Inspite of the limited manpower, the unit achieved five times its normal output. Most of the negative rolls/unprocessed films were received in evening and the production work was carried out throughout the night. All types of photographic equipment, films, printing paper and chemicals were collected, stored, issued and despatched to the operational units.

Squadron Leader Rangaswamy completed these tasks admirably. Irrespective of the time of day and nigh was available at the unit and by his Direct involvement, guidance and tact he built a team spirit which was essential sustained effort.

Squadron Leader Srinivasa Rangaswamy displayed initiative, keenness, tact and inspiring leadership and has rendered distinguished service of a high order. He is awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal.
