Details : | During the operations, against Pakistan in December, 1971, Flight Lieutenant Ramesh Thakurdas Chandani carried out twenty-six sorties in JAMMU AND KASHMIR Sector. On the 14th December, 1971, when he was returning from Nainakot, his co-pilot drew his attention to one of our aircraft which had been shot down and was on fire. He immediately landed near the wreckage and rescued an Army Officer who was the only living occupant of the aircraft and thus saved his life.
