During the operations against Pakistan in December, 1971, Flight Lieutenant Chidambaram Sarangapani Chandrasekaran was a pilot in a Fighter-Bomber Squadron. He flew 13 operational missions against the enemy ground forces and destroyed 8 tanks, 2 gun positions and one bunker in the face of heavy ground fire.

Throughout, Flight Lieutenant Chidambaram Sarangapani Chandrasekaran displayed gallantry, professional skill and devotion to duty of a high order.
