Details : | Wing Commander Parshotam Lal Rishi was commissioned in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) branch of the Indian Air Force in September, 1953. At the time of the outbreak of Indo-Pak hostilities in December, he was in Command of an Electronic Engineering and Installation Unit. During the Emergency, a large number of engineering tasks, urgent repairs and defect rectification work were entrusted to him. He carried out these successfully. Wing Commander Rishi was also entrusted with the task of preparing a Radar Station by removing radar damaged due to enemy air attacks. He completed the task within a record time of three days. His experience was utilized during the hostilities to enable all Major Radar Stations to be kept serviceable. A Signal Unit was attacked by enemy air attack on 4th December, 1971. He arranged the required parts from indigenous resources and brought the unit on the air within a record time of 12 hours. Wing Commander Parshotam Lal Rishi displayed leadership, professional skill and devotion to duty is rendered distinguished service of a high order. He is awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal. | |||
