Details : Group Captain Kuldeep Singh (23747) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in flying branch on 16Dec 1995. He is a Fighter Combat Leader (FCL) with over 2900 Hrs of flying on M-2000, SU30 MKI, Mig 21 T-96 and Bison aircraft. He is presently commanding a front line Mig 21 Bison squadron. In the 19 years of his distinguished service, he has held several field and staff appointments that include Squadron FCL Officer in Charge Training at Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE)and Deputy Commandant of TACDE. He stood first in the overall merit in 56 FCL course at TACDE. During his tenure as Squadron FCL in Mig 21 Squadron, where he was responsible for operational training, the squadron did very well in all operational activities and was adjudged the best fighter squadron of the command. As the Deputy Commandant at TACDE, he was responsible for planning and conduct of the Composite Graduate Courses involving all the combat elements of the IAF. During his tenure at TACDE he had been involved in planning and conduct of a number of bilateral Air Force exercises without any incident/accident. He took over the command of fighter squadron on 17 Feb 14.He used his vast operational and instructional experience to improve the professional standards of the pilots of the squadron. His in-depth analysis of the situation and remedial actions resulted in safe and enhanced operational flying, improved aircraft serviceability, faster upgradations and exemplary performance of the officers of his Squadron. As a result of his focused training and leadership, the squadron achieved the distinction of being the first Bison squadron of the IAF to be judged best in the annual gunnery meet (Exercise Eklavya) of the command. His innovative initiative resulted in resolving the long persisting problem of recording of head up display of Bison aircraft and enhancing operational efficiency of the squadron. He did an exceptional job of planning and conducting 'Joint Military Training exercise' with Singapore Air Force. His tireless zeal, composed attitude, eye for details and meticulous planning has resulted in an envious flight safety record. He has never allowed personal discomforts to impede his work and has willingly contributed beyond the call of duty. He is a good Squash player and was the captain of the medal winning command squash team at Air Force championship. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Kuldeep Singh.
