Details : | Group Captain Yesh Pal Singh Negi (23735) was commissioned to in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the flying branch on 16 Dec 95 and is presently Commanding a Bison Squadron at Air Force station Srinagar. He is a Fighter Combat Leader with 2685 hrs of service flying to his credit. The unit, under his leadership flew extensively in a year with a large percentage of it being at night. He professionally steered the Sqn towards winning many operational trophies including "Best in individual bombing", "Best in two ac role specific BAI mission", "Best in individual RIP firing" , "Best in RIP team firing" during the gunnery meets under his command. His impetus was to provide maximum flying experience to the younger pilots resulting in 133 up gradations in the last two years. He successfully completed the challenging task of selecting High Altitude ranges after extensive ground, helicopter and fighter trials. Currently the unit is regularly carrying out operations over these high altitude ranges. He was also chosen to supervise a training camp on Air to Air Gunnery and Missile firing for Bison fleet. The Camp under him provided an opportunity for the young Bison pilots to get exposed to the art of aerial warfare. He always ensured that Flight safety and Mission accomplishment were the two pillars on which the achievements of the unit rested. He is a role model for all the officers in planning and execution of the assigned task. His consistent leadership and enthusiasm ensured complete unison of the Unit towards achieving a dose overall second in the year 2013-14 and "Best Fighter Sqn of WAC" in the year 2014-15. During the recent calamity of rapid floods at Srinagar he went beyond the call of duty for voluntary support to the relief operations. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Yesh Pal Singh Negi. |
