Group Captain Pankaj Tyagi (13901) Med was commissioned on 16 Jan 1975 in the Medical branch of the IAF. During his 29 years of service he has held important appointments including that of Assistant Professor at IAM, Bangalore, Advisor, Air India Bombay and Senior Advisor IAM. He has been commended by the AOC-in-C. Presently he is on the posted strength of HQ WAC since 07 Jan 02 as Dy PMO (S). Gp Capt Tyagi is a renowned Aviation Medicine Specialist who has to his credit a number of very prestigious scientific papers. His field of research has covered almost all topics of relevance, which have won accolades from professionals in the field of aviation. He has very competently managed the civil aviation medical duties in India and abroad.

He has been the Editor of the first draft of 'The Text Book on Aviation Medicine' and has been the Editor of Indian Journal of Aerospace Medicine for four years. He has made the IAF proud while representing it in various Committees at DRDO, DGCA and ISRO. He conceived a very thought provoking service paper on 'Nuclear and Biological Warfare' during Op Parakram. He was also instrumental in the design of Operating schedules for aircrew on sudden induction to high altitudes.

For his distinguished service of high order, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain Pankaj Tyagi.
