Army Undertakes Camel Safari

The Indian Army flagged off a Camel Safari Expedition in the Thar Desert in the general area of Bikaner on 11 March 2016. The expedition team comprises of officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and twenty soldiers and plans to cover a total distance of 200 kms over a period of 10 days from 11 to 20 March 16.

The expedition would traverse the border towns of Ranjitpura, Manganwala, Ballar, Dantor, Siyasar, Khajewala, Kundal, Khaliqwali, Gharsana & Anupgarh. A Medical Camp will also be organised by the team en route where free medical check-ups will be conducted by a team of Army Doctors.

The aim of the expedition is to promote a sense of adventure by Army personnel and show case Army as a way of life to locals. The expedition will also motivate local youth to join the Army, besides promoting goodwill amongst the locals.
