Vice Admiral Sureesh Mehta, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, (presently Admiral and Chief of Naval Staff) receives military honours as he steps aboard the amphibious command ship USS Blue Ridge [LCC 19] on 15 November 2004 during a port visit to Tumon, Guam. Admiral Mehta visited the ship to attend the eighth annual executive steering group meeting held onboard. These yearly meetings are designed to establish the most effective ways to improve interoperability between the Indian & US Navies and enhance maritime security in the Asia-Pacific region. Also, the end goal of these meetings is to continually expand the friendship and working relationship between the two navies. These meetings continue to provide planning strategies and vital information for future bilateral exercises.
