Spread the love

With a heavy heart, we learnt about the passing away of Wing Commander Hoshang Patel of Bombay.  He passed away today 25th January 2017, at the age of 96.  A WW2 veteran airman and pilot who served in two tours in Burma, one of the few to do it as both an erk as well as a pilot.  Hoshang Sir was the one who gave the spark to the fire of WW2 research that this website has carried out over the years.

With a heavy heart, we learnt about the passing away of Wing Commander Hoshang Patel of Bombay.  Hoshang sir has always been close to the hearts of some of us. We are at a loss of words. It is an end of an era for some of us.

It all started with one single email in 2002 about a photograph on our site that opened our eyes about the world of living WW2 veterans and the urgent need to chronicle their memories and experiences.   Hoshang sir shared his life experiences with us and that motivated us to record aleast a dozen more stories of WW2 veterans for our archivesl
