 Western India Date Raised : 1967-01-25 Disbanded : 1971-07-14 Location : Pune HQ MAO was formed as Air Force Element in Mumbai in 1957 for joint operations with Army. In 1967 it was moved to Pune and renamed as HQ Western India and further renamed to Maritime Air Operations (MAO) in July 1971 and moved to Mumbai.
