Flying Training School

Between 1 Oct 39 and 21 oct 1940, 27 Sqn RAF had acted as a Flying school at Risalpur. On 1 Nov 1940, No. 1 (Indian) Flying Training School was formed at Ambala to take up the role. It was redesignated as No. 1 Service Flying Training School (SFTS) on 21 July 1941. On 1 April 1946 1 SFTS, 151 OTU and 1 (Advanced) flying Unit merged to become Advanced Flying School (India) at Ambala.
