The long and arduous process of selecting a suitable site for establishing a communication link in Maharashtra region started in later half of I982. A hillock situated in the Sahyadri hills located close to INS Shivaji was selected. This station was established in Mar 90. Air Force Station Lonavala is an independent, self-administered and self-accounting Units which provides the crucial communication link in the south of Baroda to the Maharashtra region.
