The Squadron was raised on 01 Jul 1956 with one senior division flight consisting of 25 flight cadets, commanded by Plt Offr P Pandey. The Squadron was originally raised as 14 Bihar Air Sqn NCC, which was re-designated as 2 Bihar Air Sqn NCC in 1964-65 on reorganization of the NCC Air Sqn. On the creation of the State of Jharkhand the Sqn was renamed as 2 Jharkhand Air Sqn NCC. The Squadron has progressively grown and now has 16 JD troops and two SD/ SW flight. Ranchi Group
