1 IAF Cranwell - This is first batch of Indian officers who were sent RAF Cranwell and were commissioned thereafter in the Indian Air Force. The first six cadets joined on 4 Sep 1930 and were commissioned on 20 July 1932 after completing two years at Cranwell. One out of them, JN Tandon was commissioned as an equipment branch officer as he was found too short to be a pilot. The pilots, subsequently they attended the Army co-operation course at Army Cooperation school, Old Sarum, UK between September and December 1932. These officers were given a commission in the Indian Airforce on 8 October 1932 on its formation, though ante-date seniority was given from 20 July 1932, the passing out date from Cranwell.
