Wing Commander Doraiswamy Sankaranarayana Sarma was commissioned in the Air Force in January 56 and has held various instructional and staff appointments. Some of the appointments held include Headmaster of a Sainik School, Assistant Professor in Elect Engg at Air Force Technical College, Assistant Director Data Processing at Air Headquarters and Command of Comm unication Training Institute. During all these appointments he left a mark of profe ssionalism and sincerity.

Wing Commander Sarma has been commanding Officer of Communication Training Institute since Force 80. The Command of an Institute with approximately 2500 trainees and a staff of 400 from different states and various walks of life is a challenging task and undaunted by the magnitude of the task. Wg Cdr DS Sarma has streamlined the unit administration. He has succeeded in bringing the unit administration to acceptable standard in a very short time.

Because of the changes in training methodology introduced by Wg Cdr Sarma the overall results of all trades in CTI are consistently above 95% as against 60 to 65% before his assuming the command.

Recently, Wg Cdr Sarma has been entrusted with the task of preparing the syllabus and programme of training for the Lead-in course for a new aircraft scheduled to commence at Air Force Technical College shortly. With his usual enthusiast and painstaking hard work, he has completed the in record time.

For his devotion to duty, initiative and loyalty to the service, the President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Doraiswamy Sankaranarayana Sarma.
