Details : | Squadron Leader Baljit Singh Sahmey (6558) was commissioned in the Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) Branch of the Indian Air Force in June, 1962. He has been serving as the Chief Technical Officer of an Air Force Station in the Eastern Sector since January, 1971. Within a short period of two months, he established second line servicing of a transport aircraft which had earlier been carried out by Messrs. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. During the Indo-Pak operations in December, 1971, he maintained a high rate of 86 percent aircraft serviceability rate and thereby enabled the Squadrons to complete their missions successfully. Squadron Leader Baljit Singh Sahmey displayed high professional skill, leadership and devotion to duty and has rendered distinguished service of a high order. He is awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal. | |||
