Wing Commander Tapas Kumar Ukil (3911) Technical/Engineering was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in July 1950. At present he is serving in a Flying Training Wing as its Chief Technical Officer. Since taking up his appointment at the Training Wing in October, 1968, Wing Commander Ukil has done much to improve the maintenance and serviceability of aircraft, in spite of shortage of manpower and materials. He has reorganized the technical sections of the Wing, and has applied new techniques of planning and control to speed up the inspection and servicing of aircraft. It has been largely due to his intelligent and dedicated work that the Wing has met all its flying tasks in full. He has also brought about a marked economy in the consumption of spares required for the maintenance of aircraft. |
