Squadron Leader Rajendra Singh Bishnoi was commissioned in the Air Force in 1950. He was Chief Instructor at the Paratroopers Training School, Indian Air Force, in 1963-64. He has to his credit a total of 265 parachute descents. In October, 1963, he led the I.A.F. parachute jumping team which was conducting for the first time trials over a dropping zone at an altitude of 13,000 feet above sea level. He was the first person to jump with an indigenous parachute and the first Indian to jump from Caribou aircraft. Throughout his tenure in the Training School, be displayed leadership and determination in carrying out live jumps at high altitudes with new parachutes from new types of aircraft. |
