Details : Group Captain Rohit Kapil (25081-R) Flying (Pilot) was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Flying branch of IAF on 20 Jun 98. He is presently posted as the Commanding Officer of an operational frontline Squadron since 14 Mar 16. He has 3500 hours of operational flying experience on a variety of aircraft on IAF's inventory. He has been Flight Commander of a premier operational squadron. He is a Cat 'A' Qualified Flying Instructor and has undergone Advance Command and Staff Course in UK. The officer on assuming the command of a premier fighter squadron, was faced with the challenge of completing the induction of eighteen aircraft and operationalizing a newly resurrected squadron. Notwithstanding the limited resources, he decided to form two separate teams to HAL for acceptance of aircraft. This decision resulted in speedier acceptance of aircraft and operationalization of the squadron. Owing to his foresight, dynamic leadership and eye for detail, the squadron has been able to maintain highest aircraft serviceability in the entire fleet. His operational orientation and focus has ensured high quality of training, a quantum increase in unit's war-fighting capability and operational readiness. The unit's exemplary performance during the various exercises is a testimony of his exceptional leadership skills. As the team leader for the joint Military Training with Republic of Singapore Air Force, he led the IAF contingent from the front to ensure professional conduct during this prestigious international exercise, wherein the prowess of the IAF was showcased at an international level bringing accolades to the nation. He has been instrumental in planning and execution of safe air operations from a remote civil airfield in the eastern theatre close to the lB. The officer has nurtured a feeling of pride and utmost professionalism in all personnel of the sqn. His efforts vis-a-vis team building has ensured smooth and efficient conduct of all tasks assigned to the unit. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to duty) to Group Captain Rohit Kapil.
