Details : | Group Captain Mandeep Singh Sehrawat (23756) F (P) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the flying branch on 16 Dec 95. He is a Cat 'A' OFI with 5250 of accident free flying hours; has been a DS at FIS and an Air Force Examiner. Presently, he is commanding an Avro Sqn at one of the premier Air base in South Western sector, since 16 May 14. He played a key role in operationalisation of Pithoragarh and Dharasu airfields, which became lifeline during relief ops in Utarakhand. As an AFE he was instrumental in overhauling of RHSCP training and formulation of the current AFO 49/2015 on aircrew categorisation. He was awarded 'Menekshaw Medal' for standing First in the order of merit at DSSC, a first ever for a transport pilot. He was also adjudged' best in Ground Subjects' during OFIC. He was commended by the Chief of the Air Staff on 08 act 10. As Commanding officer of his present unit, he spearheaded trial landings at Keshod, Kandla, Mundra and finally Assault Landing at Pokhran, a 'first' for the Avro. On 10 Nov 15, the squadron created history by launching all nine ac, achieving 100% serviceability on the ageing fleet. He has made most of the Challenge to conduct Stage III training on HS-748, overhauling the process of type training and reinitiating of Low Level training. During the last two years, his squadron has performed exceptionally well in AEB, and in January 2015, the squadron was assessed as Average Plus in all facets of inspection by DASI. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Mandeep Singh Sehrawat. |
