Details : Wing Commander Anand Mishra (23678) Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as an Engineer in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) branch on 29 May 1995. He served as Engineering Officer in three frontline fighter Squadrons of the IAF. Thereafter, he graduated as Flight Test Engineer (ITE) (Avionics) after completing the 27th Flight Test Course at Air Force Test Pilots School, in May 2005. He is presently on the posted strength of Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment. Wg Cdr Mishra was entrusted with the task of undertaking the crucial third and final phase of the user evaluation trials on Su-30 MKIac in Jun 2005. The operational capability of the Su-30 MKI ac inducted into the IAF in three phases was to be realised and verified during these trials. It was an onerous and demanding task to ensure contractual compliance and op efficacy of the entire avionics suite of the aircraft. Further, due to his innovative flight test techniques, the operational potential of the Su-30 MKI radar was effectively established. His role in the flight evaluation ensured exceptional performance by the IAF contingent during Exercise Red Flag at USA. Wg Cdr Mishra is a sincere, diligent and dedicated air warrior. He displayed remarkable leadership, initiative and foresight to ensure meticulous planning and efficient execution of several system integration and user evaluation trials on the aircraft within the scheduled timeframes. He evolved several specific flight test techniques to critically evaluate the entire avionics suite for contractual compliance. During the trials, Wg Cdr Mishra displayed a very high degree of perseverance and tact to persuade the Chief Designer of the Sukhoi Design Bureau to accept the inadequacies in design of the various avionic systems in the aircraft and ensured implementation of corrective measures by the Original Equipment Manufacturer. The success of the trials can largely be attributed to the officer and was favourably commented upon even by the Russians. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vayu Sena Medal' to Wing Commander Anand Mishra.
