Details : Group Captain Ajay Pal Singh (23538) war commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the flying branch on 17 Jun 95 and is Commanding a Su-30 MKI Squadron since 10 Jun 13. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor, Instrument Rating Instructor and Examiner and a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College. He has flown variants of the MiG-21 and Su-30 MKI aircraft and has over 3975 hours of accident free flying to his credit. He had actively participated in the Kargil Conflict undertaking Live Missions and also in Op Parakram. The officer has been Flight Commander of a SU-30MKI Sqn and has done staff tenure at Head Quarter Eastern Air Command where he was entrusted with looking after Su-30 MKI fleet and two major Fighter Bases of EAC. Since joining the squadron he has displayed very high sense of responsibility, exemplary initiative and thorough professionalism. His noteworthy managerial skills meticulousness and diligent planning ensured quantum increase in flying hours per month. He has ensured maximum operational upgradation of aircrew towards special roles and specialist weapons thus enhancing the war fighting capability. He showed exemplary leadership skills during the bilateral International Exercise Garuda V with France during which the qualitative preparation and planning lead to high success rate in all missions. His unflinching involvement in fulfilling demanding task and leading the Squadron from the front was displayed during Ex Eklavaya and Air to Air Missile firing camp. He also led the Republic day flypast 2015 and was instrumental in planning and execution of various tasks given to his unit in President Standard Presentation in Mar 15. He has actively promoted 'espirit de corps' amongst air warriors in his unit. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Ajay Pal Singh.
