Details : Wing Commander Paramjeet Singh (21929) was commissioned in Indian Air Force in Administration/ Fighter Controller branch on 10 Jun 92. He is on the posted strength of one of the Pill Force Movement Liaison Unit (AFMLU) since 06 Apr 09 as Commanding Officer. Wg Cdr Paramjeet Singh, as a young fighter controller bagged his first AOC-in-C commendation by building a helipad at 260 SU and contributed towards the unit securing 'Best Air Defence' unit title in 2000. In 2006 as CO of a sensitive, isolated and Cl affected mobile radar unit in the Northern Sector, he altered the temporary setup to a permanent setup. He was instrumental in acquiring of defence land from Govt of J&K and creation of a 1.7 Km long road from the radar location to the highway for ensuring logistics support to the earlier estranged radar location. During this tenure he voluntarily took over as Dett Cdr of an lAF adopted village 'Ursa' during earthquake and was commended by the CAS. In 2008 at newly established Joint Control and Analysis Centre (JCAC) within AAI complex, his efforts resulted in acquiring additional space for this new unit collocated with a civilian organisation. He made sure that all auxiliary ops systems were incorporated with AAI and put into use, including complete air-conditioning of the unit setup. His efforts were once again commended by the CAS. In 2009 he took over as CO of a AFMLU, a highly operational and sensitive unit. He extraordinarily changed the setup of this former diminutive setup within the AAI complex. In addition to acquiring the added space, complete restructuring of the available plinth by creating perpendicular double-tier mezzanine floor, setting up of customised furniture with latest workstations and modular bunk beds to provide for a better quality of working environment in 24 x 7 ops. He ensured installation of systems like IACCS, VCCS, FPDS, TADIDS, Raytheon Radar Picture and their display on LCD screens in the ops room for the greatest situational awareness of the ops crew. For his exceptional contribution towards the unit improvements, he was once again commended by the CAS. The ops room and liaison of the unit were declared 'Exceptional' during Dte of Air Staff Inspection visit in 2011. His innovative and self-initiative attitude led to the setting up of Airport Facilitation Cell (AFC), lAF Publicity Pavilion and space for mounting of two fighter aircraft (MiG-23 BN) at Terminal-3 in IGI Airport. This cell has been recently been inaugurated by the CAS. The AFC is presently serving all defence personnel and their families transiting through IGI Airport. The other publicity projects are aimed at inspiring and attracting the younger generation to join IAF. His persistent efforts bagged a space for these three projects 'free of cost' from Mls GMR Ltd, making a total savings for the IAF to the tune of approximately Rs. two crores per annum on a permanent basis.
