Details : Wing Commander Ajay Devidas Purandare (21526) Flying (Pilot) is on the posted strength of Cell for Air Tasking Strike Planning and Air Warfare (CATSPAW), South Western Air Command, Indian Air Force (SWAC, IAF) since 30 May 2005 and worked as Command Operations Plans Officer till 30 Aug 2007 and presently holding the post of OIC CATSPAW. Wg Cdr Purandare made significant contribution while at Electronic Warfare Range (EWR), Gwalior in 2000-2001 where he authored a training precis on Electronic Warfare (EW) and contributed largely towards formulation of Indian Air Publications (lAP) 8606 - Fundamentals of EW Self Protection Suite. As Directing Staff at Tactical Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), Gwalior in 2003-2005 he was instrumental in the planning, conduct and analysis of numerous exercises including several international exercises. He introduced the 'Compe Ground Positioning System (Compe GPS), software, a GPS based debrief tool which has gained wide acceptance in the entire Indian Air Force. His most significant contribution has been towards the structuring, conduct and analysis of Ex Javelin 11, a step towards evolving a Beyond Visual Range (BVR) employment doctrine for the Indian Air Force. While at HQ SWAC he has contributed immensely in structuring a new section - CATSPAW, building on constantly towards an efficient way of conducting air operations. He also undertook the formulation of HQ SWAC Operations Instructions from Aug 2005 to Feb 2006, a task that demanded commitment of a very high order. His contribution towards the planning and conduct of Exercise Gagan Shakti, both, at Air Headquarters and HQ SWAC Level, as the Coordinating Officer has ensured a safe and efficient conduct of the exercise. Recent achievements have been the smooth induction of Integrated Command Air tasking system (ICATS) in SWAC and further consolidation of the air dominance concept and air battle management concept in exercises held by SWAC. Due to his single-minded focus towards the task at hand, extreme hard work, ability to handle stress and planning abilities he has been able to complete the assigned tasks to the desired standard within the stipulated time. For his distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Ajay Devidas Purandare.
