Details : | Wing Commander Kuldip Singh Gill (20746) Flying (Pilot) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in flying branch on 16 Jun 1990. He is commanding a Bison Squadron at Air Force Station Srinagar since 20 Aug 2007. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has over 2700 hrs of accident free flying. He has held the appointment of Flight Commander of a frontline Fighter Squadron and has participated in various national and international exercises. As a Commanding Officer, he has ensured that all pilots of the unit upgrade their qualifications and ratings commensurate with their experience and seniority. With his exemplary leadership and managerial skills, he is able to strike a perfect balance between task accomplishment, flight safety and welfare. His procedural discipline and active supervision ensured 'Nil' Human Error (Aircrew) incidents during 200S-09. In January 200S, the trials for the operations from the parallel taxi track (PTT) at Srinagar were carried out in a very professional manner and for the first time a fighter aircraft landed on PTT, thereby increasing the operational potential of this base. He was also tasked to check the feasibility of night operations from the Udhampur airfield. After a detailed study on the subject he carried out the first night landing by fighter aircraft at Udhampur airfield on 16 Oct 07. With sustained effort the squadron carried out 2900 Sorties/172S:00 hrs of flying in 2007- 09, which was not only accident free but IS % higher than previous years. His achievements as a Commanding Officer can be summed up by the fact that under his able guidance, the unit won the most coveted trophy of the 'Best Fighter Squadron in Western Air Command' for the year 200S. The officers' decision making, level of staff work, command and control are of a high order. He is always willing to take on any additional service commitment and accomplishes it with enthusiasm. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vayu Sena Medal' to Wing Commander Kuldip Singh Gill. |
