Details : | Group Captain Arun Malik (19532) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the fighter stream on 11 Jun 88. In his 25 years of distinguished service, he has flown over 4.200 hrs of accident free flying on more than 25 different types of aircraft. The officer is a Cat A Qualified Flying Instructor and an Experimental Test Pilot. He has served as an instructor at Basic Flying Training School (BETS) and Flying Instructors School (FIS). He was Senior Test Pilot at Aircraft and systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) and is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College in USA. He is presently posted as Director Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhavan). As Senior Test Pilot at ASTE, the officer successfully conducted flight trials of the latest generation Avionics. Electronic Warfare and Weapon Systems on different fighters. facilitating their timely induction into service. As Prototype Test Pilot for SARAS Light Transport Aircraft. designed by National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL). he undertook the initial experimental flight trials on the aircraft. During his deputation to HAL (Bangalore), the officer executed flight trials to evaluate the new engine. control harmony and stall characteristics of the Intermediate Jet Trainer (IJT). The officer was instrumental in fine tuning control laws and Human Machine Interface aspects for the IJT Simulator and upgrade of Mirage 2000 Simulator. As Director MMRCA. he successfully and expeditiously executed all aspects of MMRCA procurement. ensuring smooth progress of the case. As Member Secretary for MMRCA CNC and other associated committees, he ensured their efficient functioning. In the Offset committee. he oversaw the massive task of assessment of offsets of all six vendors. As Member Secretary CNC. he guided the team to carry out comprehensive benchmarking of this multifaceted proposal, wherein Life Cycle Calculations were carried out for the first time. In Ll Sub-Committee, he oversaw the extensive and complex calculations carried out to determine Ll vendor. In the Maintenance Sub Committee, his sound technical acumen was instrumental in the expeditious assessment of the technical documentation and confirming compliance of technical specifications and deliverables vis-a-vis the RFP. The officer has led the MMRCA team professionally with foresight. thereby ensuring smooth progress of the project. He has displayed sound planning and execution all through the procurement process, while ensuring strict adherence to the stringent security instructions associated with the project. The demeanour. conduct and professional competence displayed by him throughout the MMRCA procurement process has been of the highest standard. For distinguished service of high order.
