Details : Wing Commander Sandeep Rawat (19490) Logistics was commissioned in the Logistic Branch of Indian Air Force on 17 Dec 1988. During his 19 years of distinguished service, he has been commended by Chief of the Air Staff on two different occasions and once by Air Officer Commanding- in-Chief. While posted as MCO at Palam, he was specially selected to handle the movement of first ever UN Mission from India. The prestigious international commitment was fulfilled in the finest traditions of military precision and exemplary efficiency. The officer was singled out by the UN for his professionalism in formulating a comprehensive SOP The officer's contribution in formulating Air Officer in charge Maintenance's Canons is universally acknowledged as foundation of the existing provisioning and procurement system of the IAF During his tenure as Staff Officer to the CAS, his initiative and innovation in establishing and operating the "CAS Website", facilitating prompt solutions to air warriors' problems ranging from personal to policy issues, is unprecedented and unparallel. As Joint Director Eng Al (Q), he is maintaining the SU-30 MKI aircraft fleet. His intelligent forecasting, planning and effective logistic support resulted in 100% serviceability of SU-30 MKI aircraft during entire "Indra Dhanush" Exercise at UK in Aug 2007, which was commended at International Forum. As the member secretary of Empowered Delegation, which visited Russia during Sep 2007, he concluded contracts for urgent and critical spares amounting to Rs 450 Crores with a saving of Rs 80 Crores. He further benefited the state by saving Rs 15 Crores in Jul 2007 and Rs 12 Crores in Dec 2007 while concluding important contracts within exemplary record time of seven days on both the occasions. For his distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Sandeep Rawat.
