Details : Group Captain Sukumaran Ramakrishnan (18466) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as an engineer in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) branch on 18 Aug 86. He is the Chief Engineering Officer at Air Force Station, Ambala since 24 May 11. He is trained on Jaguar aircraft and Electronic Warfare systems and has vast experience in various field assignments, Equipment Depot assignment, staff assignment and diplomatic assignment. He is an extremely service oriented and hard working officer with an innovative mind. With his professional acumen and effective analytical approach, he has achieved the zenith of maintenance activities at this base. His wholehearted support and guidance to the maintenance fraternity has won accolades for successful completion of all assigned tasks. With his visionary foresight, he was instrumental setting up the Electronic Warfare (EW) bay as centre of excellence, revamping of Weapon Storage Areas, Installation of Taxi lights, installation of new ADRDE Arrester Barrier and setting up of new a Tech Library. He is a perfectionist and with his immaculate planning and execution, he has been able to build up all long standing Aircraft on Ground (AOC) of this base. As a result of his efforts, the station could produce 12 Bison aircraft and 28 Jaguar aircraft for the Exercise Livewire. His impetus towards EW systems serviceability is clearly visible from the fact that, all the aircraft participating in exercise Livewire have serviceable on-board EW systems. He has dedicated his focus towards efficient AOG and spares management and left no stone unturned in timely provisioning with effective liaison with the various supply agencies. SOP modification on the Jaguar was being undertaken at the base. His keen interest and follow up of the activities undertaken by the HAL team ensured that the aircraft rolled out for flying as per the required standards. He also guided his team towards organizing the EW Seminar, ADOUR engine workshop and Armament loading and fusing Workshop at this base, the successful conduct of which were highly appreciated at all levels. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Group Captain Sukumaran Ramakrishnan.
