Details : Air Commodore Savinder Pal Singh (18116) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in flying branch on 06 Dec 85. He has commanded a fighter squadron and has served as Chief Operational Officer of two premier fighter bases of Western Air Command. During all these tenures, there were no incidents! accidents. He has also functioned as Director Strategic Intelligence in Strategic Force Command. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor, Fighter Combat Leader and Instrument Rating Instructor and Examiner. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College. He has undergone Higher Command Course at MHOW, where he was awarded the Commander's medal for research work on nuclear capabilities in the region. He has attained first division in both MPhil and MSc (Defence studies) degrees. He has been commended twice by the Chief of Air Staff and awarded three stars of flight safety. In his previous appointment as Commanding Officer, of one of the Tactical Air Centre (TAC), he earned the admiration from commanders at all levels of South Western Command (Army), for his initiative in conducting training seminars and joint operational exercises up to Brigade level in the concerned Corps zone. The unit also conducted the highest number of Counter Surface Force missions in Exercise Gauntlet- III and IV Under his leadership, the unit was adjudged as the 'Best TAC' for the year 2011. He is presently Air Officer Commanding of a frontline Air Force base since 04 Jul 11. During his command he has made number of value additions in the base on all fronts. The base has always performed exceptionally well in all exercises including Gauntlet V and VI. Under his guidance, the base undertook seamless induction and sustained operations of Remotely Piloted Aircraft unit for five months that culminated in their successful operational employment in Ex-Gauntlet VI. He, with his extraordinary acumen, clarity of thought and perseverance, was able to get the work services for initial induction of Su-30 released in the record shortest possible time. Professionalism with involvement and commitment has been the core values with which he has completed every task assigned to him. He not only focussed on operational orientation but also ensured welfare and created opportunities for overall development of his subordinates and their families, with special emphasis on education for children. He, with his extraordinary leadership qualities and compassion has created a highly motivated team which is regarded with professional admiration in Western Air Command.
