Details : Group Captain Naveen Jain (16642) Administration was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in the Administrative Branch on 11 Dec 1981, bagging the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) medal, Training Command Medal, Air Force Academy (AFA) Medal and Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) Trophy. He continued his excellence in various appointments in the field at different Stations and was awarded Commendation by Air Officer Commanding in- Chief (AOC-in-C), Eastern Air Command (EAC) in Jan 1988 and Commendations by the CAS in Jan 1992, Oct 1999, and for a third time in Jan 2002. He has done pioneering R & D work in digital image processing when he was posted at Defence Image Processing and Analysis Centre (DIPAC)where he had prepared three-dimensional digital terrain models for the first time for services and developed a GIS (Geographical Information System) for IAF. While he was commanding Airmen Selection Centre, Ambala, Directorate of Adm Inspection during their inspection visit to the centre, awarded the highest grading with remarks 'A unit par excellence'. He has done five professional /service courses, including a course at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, and stood first in all of them with 'Distinction'/DS grading. Group Captain Jain has been on the posted strength of Air Force Station Hindan since 14 Jan 08 as Chief Administrative Officer. At Hindan, his first major challenge was to steer the conduct of the Air Force Day Parade 08 in a manner that maintained the pomp and show put up by the IAF in the Platinum Jubilee year of 2007, albeit with significantly scaled down finances. The professionalism with which the parade was executed is, to a very large extent, due to his dynamic leadership and astute financial management skills. He also coordinated and ensured fool proof security arrangements for the parade during a time when there were multiple internal security threats. He has been instrumental in changing the face of Air Force Station Hindan over the last one year. He has speedily planned and executed a large number of works related to operational infrastructure development and improvements in the living conditions, both for Officers and Personnel below Officers Rank. He has introduced Significant changes in the appearance of the station by introducing cost-effective, long lasting high quality surface finishes on the buildings, installation of road furniture and modern sign boards, use of energy saving light fittings/ fixtures/devices, renovation of various public facilities/messes, improvement in living out areas and shopping complexes and modernisation of parks, playgrounds and auditorium. These measures and initiatives have contributed significantly in overall improvement in quality of life at the station. Ceremonial commitments at Hindan demand a great deal of administrative flexibility and nimbleness, all of which have been displayed in plenty by him, and it is because of his vast experience that the station has not been found wanting on a single occasion since he took over as Chief Administrative Officer. He always shoulders additional responsibilities with a smile, is empathetic towards subordinates and places personal comfort subordinate to organizational requirements. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain Naveen Jain.
