Details : Group Captain Avinash Naryanrao Kulkarni (16155) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) was commissioned on 07 Jul 1980. He is a thorough professional and has varied experience in Air Defence Ground Environment System (ADGES) Communication Network, Electronic Warfare and Radio Radar Nav aids. Over the last twenty-six years of service, he has distinguished himself in several Command and Staff appointments. He has successfully commanded one of the Ground Electronic Surveillance Unit during OP Parakaram, Tropo Units and Air Force Liaison Unit at BEL Bangalore. He is presently posted as Station Commander, Air Force Station Basant Nagar with effect from 26 Jun 2007. He was awarded commendation by the CAS on 26 Jan 2005. From the very outset of taking over command of this station, the officer has completed the Works services which was utmost necessary, for the progress of project AF Net. With dedicated involvement and technical expertise of the station, the perpetual problem of replication of data on Integrated Materials Management On Line System (IMMOLS) lines in IAF was resolved by converting from DAMA to PAMA system. With the sheer initiative of the officer, a long pending and recurring problems of break in optical fibre communication network in Delhi area were resolved. The station has successfully coordinated the Annual Maintenance Contract of Fibre Optic Network as well as IMMOLS network. The mammoth task of optimization and maintenance of existing aging tropo network is being successfully carried out by the station team under the guidance of the officer. During recent Directorate of Maintenance Inspection visit, the Station Information Technology Centre was declared Role Model of IAF Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) set up of the station was totally modified and the new system is being made functional. For his distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain Avinash Naryanrao Kulkarni.
