Details : Group Captain Prodip Kumar Mukherjee (15381) Accounts was commissioned in the Accounts Branch of IAF on 08 Jun 1978. He held varied appointments in field and staff in his service career where due to his professionalism he has made substantial contribution in enhancing the level of services provided and establishing procedures for efficient functioning of the existing system . During his tenure at 26 Equipment Depot, his close scrutiny of HAL invoices led to detection of large number of errors, consequently, large recoveries were made with resultant savings in Public Fund. For his high sense of dedication to Service he was commended by the CAS on 08 Oct 97. After implementation of VI CPC recommendations, large number of anomalies surfaced. The officer being the IAF member of Tri Services Pay Staff to resolve anomalies, showed exceptional resourcefulness and perseverance in dealing with these extremely sensitive and complicated issues. With untiring efforts, he achieved resolution of major anomalies resulting in due and enormous financial benefits to personnel of all three Services. Some of the major issues where he displayed exemplary finesse and led to their outcome are, restoring of bonus for warranted ranks, extending benefits of Rule FR 22 provisions on promotion to officers and grant of Technical Allowance. Later as Command Accounts Officer he instilled fair accounting practices in the field units. In his present assignment as Director Financial Planning, owing to his foresight, tact and strong professional knowledge, he could drive the best possible enhancements and introductions of new financial powers for IAF during the financial power review in 2006. He has been instrumental in laying down large number of SOPs for exercise of financial powers. His personal involvement ensured achievement of Capital Budget targets year after year since 2005, by close and effective monitoring of ongoing Capital Schemes. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain Prodip Kumar Mukherjee.
