Wing Commander Prabhu Dayal Gill was commissioned In the Administrative branch on 29 Dec 76. He has held varied important appointments such as Security Officer at an Operational Base and Works officer at Command HQ. He was appointed as Camp Commandant Air Headquarters on 08 Jul 96.

As the Security Officer of Air Force Station, Ambala, he devised innovative measures for Camp Security and developed an effective liaison with the civil officials, thereby improving the overall security scenario of the flying station. With his vast experience, analytical approach and perseverance, he reviewed the entire procedure of works services in HQ Maintenance Command and ensured that field units were afforded the best Admin Services.

Soon after taking over as Camp Commandant Wg Cdr Gill undertook completion of pending tasks and quickly appreciated the quantum and nature of works requiring immediate attention. He also undertook many new schemes to improve the existing infrastructures with extreme economy and exceptional speed. Under his supervision and astute guidance, works for fire safety measures, improvement of water supply and enhancing captive power supply were completed. His personal drive and dedication has been of a very high order and have resulted in quantum improvement in the working environment and quality of life at Air HQ.

Wg Cdr Gill, with exceptional professionalism and teamwork ensured high standards in upkeep and maintenance of Vayu Bhavan complex. He was accomplished these tasks using the existing resources and an effective liaison with CPWD, without causing additional expenditure to the Government. Working well beyond the specified working hours, Wg Cdr Gill displayed exemplary devotion to duty.

For distinguished service of a high order, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Prabhu Dayal Gill.
