Sqn Ldr Dinesh Mohan Mathur was commissioned in the Administrative branch of the IAF on 18 Jan 75.

As Adjutant (AF Station, Suratgarh), through his initiative and drive was instrumental in streamlining the administration of this forward base and also cleared a large number of pending audit objections. His positive approach and dedication to duty largely contributed towards achieving the set goals.

As Adjutant, AF Station, Jamnagar, he brought about conspicuous improvements in the working of HQ Orderly Room and general administration of the Station by his close monitoring and supervision. AF Station, Jamnagar earned trophies for being the best administered Wing in SWAC for two consecutive years. In recognition of his outstanding services at Jamnagar, the officer was awarded Commendation by the CAS on 26 Jan 87.

As Staff Officer to AOP, he has displayed professional skill and inter-personnel relationship of a very high order. He has brought about significant improvements in the functioning of AOP Secretariat by his untiring efforts and zeal.

For his distinguished service of exceptional order, the President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Sqn Ldr DM Mathur.
