Details :

Gp Capt Anand Swarup Atri was commissioned as a Fighter Pilot in the Indian Air Force on 2nd June 1968. The Officer has commendably commanded an Air Defence Unit and a Flying unit in succession.

When he took over the command of flying unit, the aircraft serviceability was around 50-60%. He dedicated himself whole heartedly, towards improving the aircraft serviceability and reached the target of 100% serviceability within a very short period, which was maintained all through, thereafter, during his tenure. The unit executed the flood relief operations flawlessly which afflicted the State of Gujarat during 1988.

While commanding the Air Defence (AD) Unit in Central Sector, he achieved 100% categorisation state of controllers and 98% serviceability of the ageing radar and allied equipment of Russian Origin.

Gp Capt Atri was posted as Joint Director Personnel Planning at Air Headquarters. Soon after assuming charge of his new assignment, the officer displayed an uncanny sense to grasp the intricate problems related top manpower. With his dogged perseverance, most of the cases which were in the pipe-line with MOD could reach finality.

For distinguished service of high order, the President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Gp Capt AS Atri.
