Details :

Wg Cdr Ramesh Kumar Sharma has been on the posted strength of one of the Air Force Wireless Experimental Units since 14 Nov 88 as Commanding Officer.

Soon after taking over the Command, Wg Cdr Sharma identified a number of weak areas resulting in low morale of operating personnel.

Keeping in view the operational significance of the role of his unit, Wg Cdr Sharma modernised the data collection centre to improve the operating environment and renovated the installation for better system reliability. The operators were provided scientifically designed work stations to enhance their productivity. He also developed software driven microprocessor based system for data analysis. The interfacing of this system made it possible to compute data faster for real time assessment of vital information.

Wg Cdr Sharma also improved the communication links for quicker dissemination of vital information to enable virtually real time reaction at higher echelon. Average time for data transfer to Base was reduced considerably. He also identified and located a detachment at a highly productive site which significantly added to the data inputs. He also designed and developed a training system, using ingenious ideas and technical knowledge which is capable of giving training automatically to six personnel simultaneously. He was also responsible for developing a modern electronic laboratory for repair of various electronic equipment locally in the unit.

For his dedicated and sustained hard work and rare achievements the President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Wg Cdr RK Sharma.
