106 Squadron - Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

106 Squadron "LYNX" complete 60 years of glorious existence this year.

The Squadron's nucleus was formed as an SR Unit in 1957 and finally upgraded to a "Squadron" in December 1959. The  Squadron operated the English Electric Canberra in an SR role and the Douglas Dakota in a Survey Role. Later it operated the Avro HS-748 as well.  The Squadron was recently resurrected on the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft in the north-east. It is one of the highest decorated squadrons in the IAF with three Maha Vir Chakras on its roll of honour.

The Diamond Jubilee celebrations are planned on 20 Dec 2019. All officers serving and veterans who have been a part of the unit are invited to contact the Squadron for further details of the upcoming celebrations .
