The Security Research Review

Research Themes

The Security Research Review aims to address the needs of the policy research community in India by encouraging the development of open source material in the following areas,

  1. Pakistan Research and Analysis: Pakistan represents a major area interest at the Security Research Review. We welcome studies of conflict in Pakistan and all efforts to explore and understand Pakistani society. Of special interest are the Pakistani Military and the Islamist movements of Pakistan, both of which offer challenges to current analysis capabilities. 
  1. China Studies: The study of the Peoples’ Republic of China (PRC) is another key activity at the Security Research Review. We welcome studies of Chinese strategic and military culture. A focus on key personalities in the PRC is also strongly encouraged.
  1. Military Analysis: The analysis of military affairs in the context of sociological, political, or economic frameworks is an important part of the Security Research Review. The Review also encourages historical study of military operations in India.
  1. Area Studies: The study of societies and cultures in the world that have a bearing on the security affairs of the subcontinent constitute an enduring interest at the Security Research Review. We especially welcome submissions that explore regional dynamics in Central Asia, West Asia and North Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia and the Indian Ocean Region.
  1. Energy Security: This refers to the study of the interaction between Energy policy and security affairs. We welcome submissions which touch upon both issues. 
  1. Technical Studies: With the growth of industrial output in India, the defense industrial complex there has become a major player on the international market. The Indian subcontinent is also one of the world’s largest importers of defense industrial systems. The Security Research Review encourages the build up focused studies on security related technologies in the Indian subcontinent.
  1. Narcotics Trend Analysis: The law and order problems associated with transnational narcotics are examined with the aim of determining key trends. Also of interest are studies of the regional narcotics market and players therein. 
  1. Counter-Terrorism: This covers all issues relating to counter-terrorism and policing activities aimed at prevention of terrorism. Also of special interest are the terrorist groups and an analysis of terrorism patterns.   
  1. Proliferation Studies: Studies relating to the proliferation of WMD technology and missile technology are strongly encouraged at the Security Research Review.
