This naval air station, which serves as the Indian Navy's largest airbase, has grown to become a full-fledged airfield that handles both domestic as well as international flights round the clock. The MiG-29K air defense fighter will be based at this base when they arrive in 2007. The Indian Navy recently spent Rs.13 crore to resurface the runway at INS Hansa, in preparation for the arrival of the MiG-29K.
