INAS 350 was commissioned by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Nirmal Verma on 12th May 2009 at INS Dega in Vishakapatnam.

INAS 350, commanded by F.H. Aga, operates Sikorsky UH 3H Sea King helicopters that are all-weather, night capable and lift helicopters that would operate primarily from INS Jalashwa in support of amphibious and special forces’ operations.

A total of six UH 3H Helicopters are operated by the Squadron.

The helicopters have already been operational even before the formal commissioning. On 12 April 2009, a UH-3H flown by Cdr S L Narayan flew from Visakahaptanam to Damanjodi in Koraput district to evacuate two CISF Constables wounded in a Naxalite attack.
