EXTRA FAST PATROL VESSEL Vessel Type: Extra Fast Patrol Vessel (XFPV). Names & Pennant Numbers with commission

meters. Main Machinery: The vessels are powered by three MTU-Friedrichshafen 16V4000 M90 diesel engines, each producing 2720 KW at 2040 rpm. Also features three Kamewa 71SII water jets for propulsion. Maximum Speed: 35 knots. Endurance: 1500 nautical miles. Living conditions on board are suitable for seven days endurance at sea and permanent stay on board at anchorage. Complement: 30 (including 5 officers). Cargo Capacity:

Radar: Fitted with satellite communication and navigation systems, including a differential global positioning system, an electronic chart display and information system and a global maritime distress & safety system. Weapons: Armed with a Russian 30mm automatic 2A4Z cannon, which has an effective range of 5.4 km. The cannon is modified with visual sights, mounted on an improvised cupola and is fitted with a medium machine gun firing 2000 rounds a minute. It has telescopic night vision and can also be remotely operated. They also carry a pair of 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns on board. Comments:
These vessels are intended
for patrolling,
anti-smuggling operations, anti-terrorist operations, fisheries
protection and search and rescue.
The boats are fully air conditioned and can operate in heavy sea
conditions of up to sea state 4 and can withstand heavy sea conditions
of up to sea state 6. These vessels can also support the Indian Navy during
wartime, as a coastal convoy escort and a communication link, and can
operate in shallow waters as well. The boats in this series are
non-polluting, featuring an onboard sewage treatment plant and the gases
used for air-conditioning are ozone layer friendly. Built by Goa

Commander Coast Region (West) and will be deployed for effectively
sanitizing the sea areas of Tamil Nadu as well as the Gulf of Mannar. |
