The Foxtrot Class submarines were the first type in significant numbers in the Indian Navy. Eight were acquired out of which six have already been de-commisioned.  India's first Nuclear Submarine was a Charlie Class submarine INS Chakra which was acquired on lease.

Kalvari Class (Foxtrot Class)
