Comments: Due to a dispute with Britain which refused to supply sophisticated naval vessels, India turned to Russia and these where the first Russian-based surface combatants the Indian Navy received. These missile boats joined the Indian Navy's No.25 Killers Squadron in early 1971. These ships arrived just in time where they played a key role in only five months before the 1971 conflict with Pakistan. Just like its Egyptian counterparts, the Indian Navy's Osa-I Class missile boats sank many ships and also destroyed countless naval installations. Their performance astonished many western analysts and as a result navies around world made anti-shipping missiles their top priority.
