INS DEGA

INS Dega is located at Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and was commissioned on 21 October 1991. The base is home to a number of helicopters that serve in the Indian Navy. The HAL Chetak, the Ka-28 ASW helicopter and the Sea King Mk.42 helicopter regularly operate from this airfield. During major exercises, a number of other fixed-wing aircraft - namely the IL-38 maritime recon aircraft, the Do-228 maritime patrol aircraft and the BN-2B/T maritime patrol aircraft - also operate from this airfield. This naval air station also handles civil flights to and from Vishakapatnam.
