RAS Exercise

INS Ranvir and INS Mumbai represented the Indian Navy and India at the International Fleet Review held in Qingdao, China on 23 April 2009 which marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of China's PLAN (People's Liberation Army Navy). En route to their destination, the ships met up with HMAS Success (AOR 304), a replenishment oiler and HMAS Pirie (ACPB 87), a patrol boat - both vessels belonging to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) who were also attending the same international fleet review. Both navies took the opportunity to conduct a Replenishment At Sea (RAS) exercise in the Yellow Sea - the name given to the northern part of the East China Sea, which is a marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean. These images were all taken out on 18 April 2009 by RAN personnel.
