This Issue

The first quarter of this year has been particularly busy for the Indian aerospace sector. The flight of the Light Combat Aircraft, preparation for a GSLV launch, the serial production of the Agni missile and a major airshow all contribute to this. While we would have liked the GSLV launch to have happened before the publication of this issue, the LCA’s flight and other events give us much material to work with. In this issue we have several articles that cover the LCA program in much detail. It is clear that the LCA’s flight test program is now well underway and merits a closer look. We will continue to cover the LCA in greater detail in forthcoming issues, as more information becomes available. We also bring you an overview of the development India’s space program. India’s premier airshow Aero India 2001 and the International Fleet Review both occurred in February. We had correspondents cover both events on the ground and are pleased to bring you their reports, along with a selection of photos. We are certain you will enjoy these. In the midst of rejoicing it is important that we not forget the victims of Gujarat’s earthquake, even though their plight no longer makes headlines in the national and international media. Last, but not the least, we would like to thanks A.Sarvatra for his suggestion that we re-name our reviews section "Views and Reviews".
