The Indian Army with the United Nations

The concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the entire world, a family) propounded by the ancient sages of India found expression in the foreign policy proclaimed and practiced by Independent India. Therefore it was not mere coincidence, when the need arose for the United Nations to find a force to keep peace between the warring groups of humanity, it looked to none other than India. Known for their equanimity and forbearance, Indian troops have been popular wherever they have gone. India has always contributed generously to the UN demands for peace-keeping.
